A powerful snow leopard deftly climbing down rocks in the Himalayas under a dramatic light.
Snow leopards are crepuscular ambush hunters and they have short, powerful forelimbs and strong chest muscles that are ideal for climbing and making quick dashes through the cliffs, rocky outcrops, and ravines they favor. They have wide, fur-cushioned paws that allow them to get firm grips or rocks on cliffs and steep slopes. They can jump up to 30 feet in one leap and use their over long broad tail for balance.
